More recipients of parental benefits
A total of 144 000 persons received parental benefits on birth of a child in 2011. This is 5 000 more than in 2010, and 27 000 more than in 2004.
The aim of parental benefits is to secure parents incomes in connection with birth. Parental benefits amounted to NOK 14.5 billion in 2011. This is a rise of 6 per cent from the year before. From 2004 to 2011 the payment increased by 39 per cent (2011-NOK).
NOK 34 billion to families with children
Cash transfers to families with children amounted to nearly NOK 34 billion in 2011; an increase of 2 per cent from 2010 (2011-NOK).
There has been a decrease in family allowances by nearly 10 per cent from 2004 to 2011 (2011-NOK). NOK 14.7 billion was paid out in family allowances in 2011. The number of recipients has increased by 54 000 in the period from 2004 to 2011.
