NOK 39 billion in tax-free transfers

Norwegian families received almost NOK 39 billion in various tax-free transfers in 2004. A large portion were transfers aimed at families with children. Child allowance and cash for care constitute alone more than NOK 17 billion.

Various tax-free cash transfers amounted to NOK 38.9 billion in 2004. The largest benefit is child allowance of NOK 14.1 billion. Together with cash for care of small children (3.1 billion) these two benefits have a portion of nearly 44 per cent of total tax-free transfers. Other important transfers are student grants (NOK 6.8 billion), social assistance (NOK 4.9 billion), basic and attendance benefit in case of disablement (NOK 2.9 billion) and dwelling support (NOK 2 billion).
