Assessed taxes NOK 86 300

Preliminary figures from the tax settlement in June show that the taxes of 2 645 000 persons were assessed in 2010. The average assessed tax was NOK 86 300.

The majority of employees and pensioners receive their tax settlement in June. About 2.3 million persons had personal income from wages, with an average of NOK 315 000, and 940 000 persons had personal income from pension, with an average of NOK 197 600. In the tax settlement in June, 564 000 persons were assessed for surtax.

NOK 228 billion in assessed taxes

Total assessed taxes before deductions amounted to NOK 235 billion. Of this, county income tax amounted to NOK 87 billion, community tax was NOK 71 billion and wealth tax was NOK 5 billion. Surtax and membership contributions to the national insurance scheme amounted to NOK 10 billion and NOK 60 billion respectively.

Total tax deductions amounted to NOK 7 billion. Of this, tax limitation due to low ordinary income or taxability was NOK 6 billion.

About the statistics

The statistics are based on the Directorate of Taxes’ tax settlement database, and includes employees and pensioners receiving their tax settlement in June. A few employees and pensioners receive their tax settlement in August or September. The remaining tax settlements for personal tax payers are conducted in October. These are the self-employed, employees and pensioners married to self-employed persons, and employees and pensioners with more complex tax assessments.
