Roundwood sales down, prices up

Roundwood sales decreased by 9 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2016 to the 2nd quarter of 2017, while the average timber price rose by 8 per cent. Forest owners obtained NOK 348 per cubic metre of timber; an increase of NOK 27.

A total of 2.7 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the 2nd quarter of 2017, according to the statistics on Commercial roundwood removals. This is 9 per cent less than the corresponding quarter of 2016. The aggregate gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 922 million in the 2nd quarter of 2017; a decline of 2 per cent.
