A good harvest of vegetables in 2009
The total production of vegetables in Norway is estimated to 190 000 tonnes in 2009, an increase of 4 per cent from 2008.
The production of field grown vegetables represented 160 000 tonnes of the total production, and greenhouse vegetables 30 000 tonnes.
The total production of garden berries is estimated to 14 400 tonnes, a decrease of 1 300 tonnes from 2008. In comparison, the production in the last ten-year period has varied between 11 300 and 15 700 tonnes, and the average for the last ten years is calculated to 13 000 tonnes.
The Norwegian production of fruit in 2009 is estimated to 17 500 tonnes in 2009, almost the same as the average production the last ten years.
