Most roe deer killed by traffic
More than 4 300 roe deer were killed by traffic in the 2015/2016 hunting year. This is an increase of 370 from the previous hunting year. For moose and red deer, the number killed by car and train decreased by 80 and 140 animals respectively.

During the season, the registered mortality of cervids outside of regular hunting totalled 8 940. This represents an increase of 2 per cent compared to the previous hunting year. Beyond ordinary hunting, traffic represents the greatest threat to cervids. In total, 5 700 cervids were killed by car and 630 by train.
Roe deer accidents most common
Roe deer are particularly vulnerable to traffic accidents, and 4 200 were killed by motor vehicle and 110 by train during the hunting year 2015/2016. In total, 1 350 moose and 640 red deer were killed by traffic.
