Low yield of meadows in 2013
The total production of meadows for mowing, converted by dry matter into hay, decreased by 11 per cent to a total of 2.4 million tonnes from 2012 to 2013.

The total production of meadows for mowing corresponds to a yield of 558 kilos of hay per decare in 2013, against 635 kilos the year before.
About 4.3 million decares of meadows for mowing were harvested at the first cut in 2013, as compared to 3.1 million decares during the second cut.
At the first cut, the yield from 23 per cent of the grass area was stored as silage, whereas 72 per cent was stored as round bales. Grass from 5 per cent of the area was dried as hay.
183 000 tonnes other coarse fodder crops
The total yield of other coarse fodder crops increased from 170 800 tonnes in 2012 to 183 100 tonnes in 2013. Rye grass and green forage mixtures covered most of the area of other coarse fodder, with respectively 48 and 50 per cent of the area of other coarse fodder crops.
The potato production in 2013 was 15 600 tonnes higher than the year before. The average decare yield of potatoes in 2013 was 2 500 kilos, against 2 400 kilos in 2012.
