High yield from meadows in 2015
The total production of meadows for mowing, converted by dry matter into hay, increased by 4.9 per cent from 2014 to 2015, to a total of 2.96 million tonnes in 2015.

The total production of meadows for mowing corresponds to a yield of 694 kg of hay per decare in 2015, compared tot 648 kg the year before.
About 4.3 million decares of meadows for mowing were harvested at the first cut in 2015, compared to 3.4 million decares during the second cut. At the first cut, the yield from 19 per cent of the grass area was stored as silage, while 77 per cent was stored as round bales. Grass from 4 per cent of the area was dried as hay.
The total yield of other coarse fodder crops was 183 500 tonnes in 2015, nearly the same as the year before. Rye grass and green forage mixtures covered most of the area of other coarse fodder, with 47 and 50 per cent of that area respectively.
The potato production decreased by 50 000 tonnes from 2014 to 2015 to a total of 307 700 tonnes. The average decare yield of potatoes in 2015 was 2 600 kg, compared to 2 900 in 2014.
