Increased investments in farm buildings

Investments in farm buildings amounted to NOK 2.45 billion in 2005. About 12 per cent of the holdings invested in farm buildings.

Investments in farm buildings made NOK 2.45 billion in 2005. The corresponding figures for 1988, 1997 and 2001 were NOK 2.51, 1.52 and 1.261 billion. The amounts for 1988, 1997 and 2001 are converted to "2005 kroner" by the Consumer Price Index. The percentage of holdings with investment in farm buildings dropped from 14 per cent in 1988 to 9 per cent in 1997, then increased slightly to 11 per cent in 2001 and 12 per cent in 2005. Average investments per holding with investment in 2005 were NOK 390 200.

About 78 per cent of the holdings had maintenance expenditures in 2005. The expenditures made up NOK 1.04 billion, which is NOK 26 200 per holding with maintenance.

Increased percentage of holdings with investments in machinery and implements

Investments in machinery and implements for agriculture and horticulture made NOK 2.49 billion in 2005. About 29 per cent of the holdings invested in new or second-hand machinery and implements. Corresponding figures for 1997 and 2001 were 21 and 26 per cent, respectively. Average investments per holding with investments in 2005 were NOK 167 300.

Leasing of machinery made about NOK 460 million in 2005 as compared to NOK 390 million in 2004. The holdings with leasing contracts paid in average NOK 79 000 in 2005, about the same amount as the previous year.

Revised figures

The figures for 2001 are revised because of improved methodologies.
