Stable catch in sea fishing of salmon

This year, the total catch of wild salmon and sea trout in the Norwegian fjords amounted to 607.51 tonnes.

The average weight was 3.7 kilos in 2003, compared with 4.3 kilos the year before. 31 per cent of the salmon caught weighed under three kilos, 42 per cent between three and seven kilos and 27 per cent over seven kilos.

Finnmark is the most important county for sea catches of salmon with a total catch of 1841 tonnes in 2003. There has been a decrease in the northern counties and Møre og Romsdal, while the catches in Nord-Trøndelag, Sør-Trøndelag og Rogaland has increased.
