Forest products amounted to NOK 6 billion

In 2011, forest products amounting to NOK 6 billion were produced, which is the same level as the previous year.

Forest products delivered during the year. 2011.

Timber for sale is the largest item in the forest account. In 2011, the aggregated gross value of industrial roundwood and timber consumed by forest owners totalled NOK 3.1 billion; an increase of NOK 119 million from 2010. The increase is due to higher timber prices and higher timber sales. Harvested fuel wood amounted to NOK 931 million; a decrease of NOK 188 million from the year before. The forestry industry purchased goods and services from forestry-related service industries for a total of NOK 1.7 billion in 2011. Services supplied by forest contractors amounted to NOK 1.4 billion.

The value added in forestry is estimated at NOK 5.4 billion; a slight increase from the year before.

Revision

The aggregate account of forestry is revised according to the new Norwegian Standard Industrial Classification (SIC2007). Some of the items are no longer comparable with earlier published numbers. This mainly applies to the items hunting and net annual increment.

Value added

The value added is defined as output less intermediate consumption. See About the statistics for a further description.

The aggregate account of forestry is based on the National Account guidelines. Nevertheless, there are still some minor discrepancies from the value added for primary forestry in the National Account.
