Decrease in production of poultry
A total of 332 800 tonnes of meat from domestic animals were approved for human consumption in 2015, a decrease of 2 per cent from last year.

Altogether, 134 700 tonnes of pork, 92 500 tonnes of poultry, 79 700 tonnes of beef and veal and 25 600 tonnes of mutton and lamb were approved in 2015. Pork accounted for 40 per cent of the total meat production in 2015, compared to poultry and beef with 28 and 24 per cent respectively.
The production of meat from cattle increased by 900 tonnes from 2014 to 2015, while the poultry meat production decreased by 13 600 tonnes. Compared with 2014, the production of pork increased by 5 800 tonnes, while the production of mutton and lamb rose by 1 400 tonnes.
In 2015, almost one quarter of the total meat quantity was produced in the county of Rogaland. The counties Nord-Trøndelag and Hedmark each accounted for 13 per cent of the production. Rogaland was in the lead of all kinds of meat.
