Seasonally-adjusted figures show a 1.0 per cent increase in disposable income from the 1s t to the 2n d quarter of 2009. The increase in the households’ and the non-profit institutions serving households’ (NPISHs) disposable income is mainly due to higher pensions and benefits from the general government and a slight increase in the compensation of employees. Pensions and social contributions showed a strong increase of 3.3 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2009. Compensation of employees that constitutes less than 60 per cent of households’ total income increased by 1.1 per cent.

Savings - defined as disposable income minus final consumption expenditure and corrected - of NOK 13 billion were recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2009. The seasonally-adjusted figures also show an increase from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2009.

Statistics Norway has started publishing the seasonally-adjusted series as of the 3rd quarter of 2008. Check the left margin for more information on seasonal adjustment.

Revisions in the figures

Quarterly institutional sector accounts are based on preliminary calculations. The uncertainty is greater in the last quarter. New information is continuously being integrated into the figures, which could cause revisions in the previously released data. Quarterly sector accounts are also consolidated against the data from the quarterly national accounts data. When the last quarters of the unadjusted series are updated, seasonally-adjusted series may also be revised backwards.
