Within waste activities and materials recovery, NOK 8.8 billion of the turnover came from waste collection, NOK 9.9 billion from materials recovery and NOK 2.1 billion from waste treatment and disposal.

Total value added (at factor prices) amounted to NOK 7.1 billion, up 2.5 per cent from 2013. Waste collection and materials recovery was the largest industry, with a value added of NOK 6.2 billion (86.8 per cent of the total).

Gross investment appeared to rise dramatically, but this is explained by low figures in 2013 due to sales of tangible fixed assets from subsidiary companies in the population to principal companies outside the population.

Most employees within waste collection

A total of 8 493 persons were employed within water, sewerage and waste in 2014. Of those employed in waste activities and materials recovery, 4 101 worked with waste collection. Remediation and other waste management employed only 100 persons.

Enterprise figures for water, sewerage and waste

There were 1 156 enterprises within water, sewerage and waste in 2014, and together these employed 8 389 people. Gross operating surplus was NOK 2.4 billion, about the same as it was in the year before.
