Increasing turnover for water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities

The turnover in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities was NOK 4.2 billion in September and October 2009. This is an increase of 2.4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The greatest increase is within businesses dealing with the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste, which had a turnover of NOK 183 million in the fifth period of 2009. This is an increase of 23.6 per cent compared with 2008.

Companies that are engaged in the collection of non-hazardous waste represent the largest industry group, and had a turnover of NOK 1.7 billion; an increase of 2.4 per cent compared with 2008.

Important announcement: New classification implemented

From January 2009, a new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC2007) will be used. The classification is in accordance with the EC’s new NACE rev.2 classification. A new industry group has been established for water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities. Materials recovery is moved from manufacturing industry to this industry group.
