Revised figures for general government
Statistics Norway presents revised figures for general government revenue and expenditure for 2003 and 2004. Total income in 2004 has been revised upward by NOK 7.4 billion since the estimate published in April 2005. Total income is now estimated to NOK 939.4 billion. Data for 2003 are only subject to minor changes.
The revision of total income for 2004 is mainly due to an upward adjustment of taxes on production and current taxes on income and wealth, excluding extraction of petroleum. The new numbers are NOK 2.9 billion and NOK 4.2 billion higher respectively. Total expenditure is by and large unchanged, so the surplus in general government, measured by net lending, has been adjusted upward by more than NOK 7 billion. The surplus in 2004 is now calculated to NOK 200.2 billion, NOK 81.5 billion higher than in 2003.
Central and local government
For central government there are just insignificant changes. Net lending for the central government is now estimated to NOK 166.6 billion.
Local government income is mainly unchanged, while current expenditure has fallen since the estimate in April. On the other hand, capital expenditure has been revised upward NOK 1.8 billion, so net lending is approximately the same as previously published.
Expenditure classified by function
General government expenditure classified by function (COFOG) has also been revised for 2003 and 2004. The largest change is that some local government expenditure for municipal dwellings has been moved from COFOG 10, Social protection to COFOG 06, Housing and community amenities.
