Declining surplus
The general government surplus in the last four quarters is estimated at NOK 164 billion, down by more than NOK 60 billion from the preceding four-quarter period.

During the last two years, the quarterly growth in government expenditures has been in excess of 1 per cent. At the same time, revenues have slightly declined. This development is mainly explained by relatively high growth in government fixed capital investments, combined with lower tax revenues from the petroleum sector.
