Tax payments up 0.9 per cent

From January to May 2002, distributed taxes totalled NOK 216,8 billion, an increase of 0.9 per cent compared with the same period last year. Taxes on the extraction of petroleum in May are not included in these figures. Total tax revenues, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 2.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted NOK 45,9 billion, a decrease of 10.8 per cent compared with the correspsonding period last year. The explanation is probably that the central authorities have taken over the responsibility for all hospitals. Each county, except from Østfold and Oslo, has an increase in tax income compared with 2001. Vestfold has the largest increase of 6.9 per cent.

In Oslo tax income decreased approximately 1.8 per cent compared with the correspsonding period last year.
