Tax payments up 1.1 per cent

From January to August 2002, distributed taxes totalled NOK 260.4 billion, an increase of NOK 2.8 billion or 1.1 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 56.5 billion, a decrease of 12.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. The reason for this is that the central authorities have taken over the responsibility for all hospitals. The municipalities in the county of Vestfold had in all the largest increase in tax income - 7.8 per cent compared with 2001. Østfold and Oslo had a decrease in tax income compared with 2001. In Oslo tax income decreased by approximately 3.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.
