Tax payments down 1.4 per cent

From January to November 2002, distributed taxes totalled NOK 423.1 billion, a decrease of NOK 5.8 billion or 1.4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Reduced tax from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the decline in total tax payments. From January to November 2002, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 86.3 billion. This is a reduction of more than 15 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2001. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 3 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 85.9 billion, a decrease of 16.4 per cent compared with the same period last year. This may be explained by the fact that the central authorities have taken over the responsibility for all hospitals. The sum of the municipalities in Vestfold County had the largest increase in tax income - 7.1 per cent compared with 2001.
