Tax payments up 2.2 per cent

From January to April 2003, distributed taxes totalled NOK 166.6 billion, an increase of NOK 3.5 billion or 2.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. Taxes on petroleum increased by 2.9 per cent.

In this period, taxes on petroleum reached NOK 46.3 billion, an increase of 2.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 29.7 billion from January to April 2003, a decrease of 3.5 per cent compared with 2002. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 46.3 billion, an increase of 6.7 per cent.

The municipalities in the counties of Akershus, Vest-Agder and Hordaland had the largest increase in tax income - more than 7 per cent. Vestfold and Oslo had a decrease in tax income compared with 2002. In Oslo tax income decreased by approximately 7.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.
