Tax payments up 4.5 per cent

From January to October 2003, distributed taxes totalled NOK 371 billion, an increase of NOK 16 billion, or 4.5 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

More taxes from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase of total tax payments. From January to October 2003, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 92 billion. This is an increase 6.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2002. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 3.8 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 114 billion. This is an increase of 5.4 per cent, or NOK 6 billion, compared with the same period last year. Total taxes paid to local governments amounted to NOK 76 billion, an increase of 5.6 per cent, or NOK 4 billion, compared with 2002.

The municipalities in Hordaland County had the largest increase in tax income, 8.3 per cent compared with 2001.
