Tax payments up 5.1 per cent

From January to April this year, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 175.1 billion, an increase of NOK 8.5 billion, or 5.1 per cent, compared with the same period last year. Taxes on petroleum increased by 8.4 per cent.

In this period, taxes on petroleum reached NOK 50.2 billion, an increase of 2.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 31.6 billion from January to April 2004, an increase of NOK 1.9 billion or 6.4 per cent compared with 2003. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 48.0 billion, an increase of 3.7 per cent.

Each county, except Møre og Romsdal, had an increase in tax income compared to last year. The municipalities in the county of Nord-Trøndelag had the largest increase, 7.1 per cent compared with 2003. In the municipalities in the county of Møre og Romsdal tax income decreased by 1.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.
