Modest increase in distributed taxes

Distributed taxes increased modestly during the first six months of 2004. From January to June 2004 distributed taxes totalled NOK 234 billion. This is an increase of NOK 9 billion, or 3.8 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 49 billion in the first half of 2004, an increase of 4.2 per cent compared with the first six months of 2003. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 72 billion, an increase of 3.8 per cent. Petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 50 billion, an increase of 7.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2003. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 2.9 per cent.

Compared with the corresponding period last year distributed taxes increased in all counties except from Hordaland and Møre og Romsdal. The largest increase was recorded in the municipalities in the County of Troms, 7.1 per cent compared with the first six months of 2003.
