Tax payments up 9.9 per cent

From January to October 2004, distributed taxes totalled NOK 407 billion, an increase of NOK 37 billion, or 9.9 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

More taxes from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase in total tax payments. From January to October 2004, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 111 billion. This is an increase of 21.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2003. The raise in petroleum taxes is mainly due to increased oil prices. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 6.0 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totaled NOK 119 billion. This is an increase of 4.2 per cent, or NOK 5 billion, compared with the same period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 79 billion, an increase of 4.0 per cent, or NOK 3 billion, compared with 2003.

The sum of the municipalities in Østfold County had the largest increase in tax income, 10.6 per cent compared with 2003.
