Tax payments up 6.3 per cent

From January to November 2004, distributed taxes totalled NOK 466.9 billion, an increase of NOK 27.7 billion, or 6.3 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

More taxes from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase in total tax payments. From January to November 2004, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 111.5 billion. This is an increase of 21.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2003. The raise in petroleum taxes is mainly due to increased oil prices. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 2.3 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 144.4 billion. This is an increase of 4.1 per cent, or NOK 5.7 billion, compared with the same period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 95.6 billion, an increase of 4.1 per cent, or NOK 3.8 billion, compared with 2003.

The municipalities in Troms County seen as one had the largest increase in tax income, 7.0 per cent compared with 2003.
