Tax payments up 5.1 per cent

In 2004 distributed taxes totalled NOK 472.8 billion. This is an increase of NOK 23.0 billion, or 5.1 per cent, compared with 2003.

More taxes from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase in total tax payments. In 2004 petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 112.6 billion. This is an increase of 15.7 per cent compared with 2003. The raise in petroleum taxes is mainly due to increased oil prices. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 2.2 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 145.7 billion in 2004. This is an increase of 4.1 per cent, or NOK 5.6 billion, compared with 2003. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 97.3 billion, an increase of 4.3 per cent, or NOK 4.0 billion, compared with 2003.

The municipalities in Rogaland County, seen as one, had the largest increase in total tax income, 7.0 per cent compared with 2003.
