Increase in petroleum tax income

From January to April 2005, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 201.0 billion. This is an increase of NOK 25.9 billion, or 14.8 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2004. The increase in tax income is mainly due to higher tax income from petroleum extraction.

From January to April 2005, petroleum taxes totalled NOK 69.7 billion. This is an increase of 38.7 per cent compared with the same period in 2004, when petroleum taxes came to NOK 50.2 billion. The rise in petroleum taxes is principally due to higher oil prices. The payment of petroleum taxes has two terms of payment - April and October.

Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 5.2 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme rose by 5.0 per cent from the corresponding period in 2004 and totalled NOK 50.4 billion. Total tax paid to central and local government amounted to NOK 48.1 billion and NOK 32.8 billion respectively. Total tax paid to central government increased by 6.7 per cent, while total tax paid to local governments increased by 3.7 per cent.
