Increased tax payments

From January to June 2005, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 263.2 billion. This is an increase of NOK 29.2 billion, or 12.5 per cent, compared with the corresponding period of 2004.

The increase is mainly due to high tax income from petroleum extraction. Petroleum taxes in the first six months of 2005 totalled NOK 69.9 billion, an increase of 39.7 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2004. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme rose by 5.4 per cent from the corresponding period in 2004 and totalled NOK 76.3 billion. Total tax paid to central and local government amounted to NOK 65.2 billion and NOK 51.6 billion respectively. Total tax paid to central government increased by 5.3 per cent, while total tax paid to local governments increased by 4.6 per cent.
