Increase in tax payments
From January to July 2005, distributed taxes amounted almost to NOK 311 billion. This is an increase of NOK 32 billion, or 11.5 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2004.
The increase is mainly due to the high tax income from petroleum extraction. In the first seven months of 2005, petroleum taxes totalled NOK 69.9 billion, an increase of 39.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2004. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme rose by 5.7 per cent from the corresponding period in 2004 and totalled NOK 99.8 billion. Total tax paid to central and local government amounted to NOK 75.5 billion and NOK 63.5 billion respectively. Total tax paid to central government increased by 4.6 per cent, while total tax paid to local governments increased by 4.8 per cent.
