Increased tax payments

From January to August 2005, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 312,5 billion. This is an increase of NOK 32 billion, or 11.3 per cent, compared with the corresponding period of 2004.

The increase is mainly due to high tax income from petroleum extraction paid earlier this year. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme rose by 5.6 per cent from the corresponding period in 2004 and totalled NOK 100.5 billion. Total tax paid to central and local government amounted to NOK 76.1 billion and NOK 64.2 billion respectively. Total tax paid to central government increased by 4.5 per cent, while total tax paid to local governments increased by 4.6 per cent.
