Increase in petroleum tax income

From January to October 2005, distributed taxes totalled NOK 485 billion, an increase of NOK 78 billion, or 19.1 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-October, 2003-2004 and 2004-2005

More taxes from the extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase in total tax payments. From January to October 2005, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 165.5 billion. This is an increase of 48.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2004. The raise in petroleum taxes is mainly due to increased oil prices. Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 8.1 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 1259 billion. This is an increase of 5.8 per cent compared with the same period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 83.4 billion, an increase of 5.4 per cent, or NOK 4.3 billion, compared with 2004.
