Increase in petroleum tax income

From January to April 2006 distributed taxes amounted to NOK 235 billion. This is an increase of NOK 34 billion, or 17.1 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2005. The increase in taxes from extraction of petroleum contributed to the increase in total tax payments.

From January to April 2006, petroleum taxes totalled NOK 91.0 billion. This is an increase of NOK 21.3 billion, or 30.6 per cent, compared with the same period in 2005. The rise in petroleum taxes is principally due to high oil prices. The payment of petroleum taxes has two terms of payment - October and April.

Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 9.9 per cent.

Tax paid to the central government amounted to NOK 54.3 billion, an increase of 12.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2005. Total tax paid to local government came to 35.9 billion, an increase of 9.7 per cent. Contribution to the national insurance scheme totalled NOK 54.0 billion. This is an increase of NOK 3.6 billion, or 7.2 per cent, compared with the same period in 2005.
