Tax revenues up 14.7 per cent

From January to May 2006, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 300.6 billion. This is an increase of NOK 38.6 billion, or 14.7 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2005.

Total tax paid to central government amounted to NOK 71.5 billion. This is an increase of NOK 6.5 billion, or 10.0 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2005. Total tax paid to local government came to NOK 56.3 billion, an increase of 10.0 per cent. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 81.6 billion, an increase of 7.7 per cent compared with the same period in 2005.

The large increase in distributed taxes is mainly due to high tax income from petroleum extraction, paid in April.
