Petroleum tax income increased

From January to October 2006, distributed taxes totalled NOK 558 billion, an increase of NOK 73 billion, or 15 per cent, compared with the same period last year. The increase is mainly due to more taxes paid from extraction of petroleum.

From January to October 2006, petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 213.3 billion. This is an increase of 28.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2005 when these taxes amounted to NOK 165.5 billion. The two terms for payment of petroleum taxes are in October and April.

Tax payments, excluding petroleum taxes, show an increase of 7.9 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totaled NOK 135.2 billion. This is an increase of 7.4 per cent compared with the same period last year. Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 91.7 billion, an increase of NOK 8.3 billion, or 10.0 per cent compared with 2005.
