Tax payments up 13.8 per cent

In 2006, paid and distributed taxes totalled NOK 627 billion. This is an increase of NOK 76 billion, or 13.8 per cent, compared with 2005. The large increase is mainly due to high tax income from extraction of petroleum.

Petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 211.9 billion in 2006. This is an increase of NOK 46.8 billion, or 28.3 per cent, compared with 2005.

Tax payments excluding petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 415.1 billion in 2006. Compared with 2005, this is an increase of NOK 29.1 billion, or 7.5 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 164.2 billion. Compared with 2005, this is an increase of NOK 10.5 billion, or 6.8 per cent. Of the total contributions to the National Insurance Scheme NOK 68.8 billion is member's contribution, while NOK 95.3 billion is employer's contribution.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 114.9 billion in 2006. Compared with 2005, this is an increase of NOK 11.9 billion, or 11.6 per cent.
