Tax revenues rose by 4.2 per cent

Paid and distributed taxes totalled NOK 653 billion in 2007. This is an increase of NOK 26 billion, or 4.2 per cent, compared to 2006.

Tax accounts statistics postponed

The tax accounts statistics for January and February 2008 will be published on 26 March. The release of the January figures has been postponed due to a delay in the delivery of the statistical data.

Errors in the tax figures from the Directorate of Taxes have led to errors in the tax accounts statistics. The error concerns the distribution of tax revenues between the tax creditors; municipalities, county municipalities, central government and the National Insurance Scheme regarding 56 municipalities for the period February to December 2007. Petroleum taxes amounted to NOK 186.9 billion in 2007, compared to NOK 211.9 billion in 2006. This is a decrease of NOK 25 billion, or 11.8 per cent. Tax payments excluding petroleum taxes increased by NOK 51.4 billion, or 12.4 per cent.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 178.2 billion. Compared with 2006, this is an increase of NOK 14 billion, or 8.6 per cent. Of the total contributions to the National Insurance Scheme, membership contributions accounted for NOK 74.6 billion, employer contributions accounted for NOK 103.6 billion.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 116.5 billion in 2007. Compared with 2006, this is an increase of NOK 1.6 billion, or 1.4 per cent. Taxes paid to central government amounted to NOK 169.7 billion, an increase of NOK 35.9 billion, or 26.9 per cent. More information is available here.
