Increased tax payments in January
In January 2011, NOK 71 billion was paid in taxes in Norway. This is about NOK 5.5 billion more than in January 2010. The figure is also higher than in January 2009 and 2008.
Contributions from the advance tax arrangement account for most of the taxes paid in January, with a sum of NOK 70 billion. This is an increase of 7.3 per cent. Employer contributions to the national insurance scheme had an increase of 6.3 per cent to a total of NOK 23 billion. Tax equalisation contributions to the central government increased by 9.4 per cent and totalled NOK 14 billion in January.
The non-personal taxpaying arrangement accounts for less than NOK 1 billion this month.
There have been some changes in the income system for the municipalities. This involves increased subsidies from the central government and a lower tax rate at the municipality level. The new rules are valid for incomes earned in 2011. The changes do not affect the tax account statistics yet, because taxes paid in January were taxes on income for November and December 2010. |
