Increased tax payments in May [Corrected 20.06.2011]

A total of NOK 106.4 billion was paid in taxes in May, increasing the total sum of taxes this year to NOK 376.5 billion.

Figures in article were corrected 20 June 2011 at 15.25 pm.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-May 2009 to 2010 and 2010 to 2011

Taxes paid through the advance taxpaying arrangement in May total NOK 96 billion. The sum for January to May this year is NOK 252.2 billion. NOK 10.5 billion was paid through the non-personal taxpaying arrangement in May. Most of this was tax equalization contributions to the central government. The sum of taxes paid through the non-personal taxpaying arrangement in the first five months of this year is NOK 65.3 billion excluding petroleum taxes.

Taxes to municipalities and county authorities total NOK 69.2 billion in the first five months of 2011. This is 0.2 per cent more than in the corresponding period in 2010. The municipalities have received NOK 57.3 billion of this sum, while NOK 12 billion has been paid to the county authorities.

The sum of contributions to the National Insurance Scheme now stands at NOK 113.3 billion. NOK 64.4 billion of this sum is paid by employers and NOK 48.9 billion is paid as member contributions.

Lower taxes to municipalities due to changes in the income system

Our figures show that a larger part of the taxes are paid to the central government and a smaller part to the municipalities. This is the result of some recent changes in the income system for the municipalities. The changes involve a lower tax rate at the municipality level and higher subsidies from the central government.

In the publication of Tax account statistics for March and April, figures for ordinary taxes on petroleum extraction were too high. This error has been corrected in our two previous publications.
