Increase in petroleum tax revenues

At the end of October, Norway had received NOK 696.2 billion in taxes. This represents an increase of 8.6 per cent, roughly NOK 54.9 billion. Of the NOK 696.2 billion, NOK 191.1 billion stems from taxation on extraction of petroleum. These payments grew at the considerable rate of 14.2 per cent, or NOK 23.8 billion, compared to the same period last year.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-October 2010 to 2011 and 2011 to 2012

Of the NOK 191.1 billion received from taxation on extraction of petroleum, NOK 119.1 billion came from the special income tax on petroleum and NOK 71.9 billion came from ordinary taxes on petroleum. These sums have increased by 14.7 and 13.5 per cent respectively compared to October last year. In October alone, NOK 41 billion was collected in taxes from petroleum extraction. The tax equalisation contribution to central government, on the other hand, grew at the slow rate of 3 per cent. This amounted to NOK 160.1 billion at the end of October. Along with the petroleum taxes, the tax revenue received from the tax equalisation contribution to central government is the greatest contributor to national tax revenues.

The accumulated payments from the advance tax arrangement amounted to NOK 445.8 billion at the end of October, showing a moderate 7.7 per cent increase compared to October 2011. The member and employer contributions to the National Insurance Scheme account for roughly 45 per cent, NOK 201.1 billion, of the NOK 445.8 billion collected through the advance tax arrangement scheme. This represents a 6.9 per cent increase in payments to the National Insurance Scheme through member and employer contributions compared to the same period last year.

Merging of municipalities

The municipalities of Mosvik and Inderøy were merged as Inderøy. In table 3, the changes in per cent from last year are based on the sum of the two municipalities last year.
