The tax payments so far this year are lower than they were in the corresponding period last year. The main reason for the decline is reduced tax payments on the extraction of petroleum. This was particularly prevalent in last month’s tax account statistics, and the effect of this has carried on to the figures published this month.

In May, a total of NOK 114.3 billion was paid in taxes. This payment is high compared to the previous months of the year, but is a decrease of NOK 2.8 billion compared to May 2013. The decrease is a result of reduced payments from the non-personal taxpaying arrangement.

Most of the taxes this month were paid through the advance tax arrangement with a total of NOK 108.8 billion. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme account for NOK 47.4 billion of this sum. Tax equalisation contributions to the central government account for NOK 26.4 billion and taxes to municipalities account for NOK 24.7 billion. Ordinary taxes to the central government and taxes to county authorities account for NOK 5.3 billion and NOK 4.8 billion respectively. Taxes through the non-personal taxpaying arrangement totalled NOK 4.2 billion in May, mostly consisting of tax equalisation contributions to the central government.
