The Governments 2001 budget proposal

Compared with the budget passed in 2000, the figures show an increase of NOK 137 billion or 25 per cent in total revenues in the central government accounts. Budgeted revenues for 2001 are around NOK 681 billion.

Statistics Norway has now updated the tables for central government revenue and expenditure by main item and expenditure by programme area. The tables now show the Governments budget proposal for 2001, the approved budget for 2000, and accounting figures for previous years. Compared with the budget passed in 2000, the figures show an increase of NOK 137 billion or 25 per cent in total revenues in the central government accounts. Budgeted revenues for 2001 are around NOK 681 billion. The proposed budgets combined expenditure is about NOK 504 billion. This is almost NOK 30 billion, or 6 per cent, higher than in the budget approved for 2000, when the total expenditure was c. NOK 472 billion. The Governments proposed fiscal budget for 2001 has a surplus of NOK 177 billion before financial transactions. The corresponding figure for the budget approved for 2000 was NOK 72 billion.
