Modest increase in government income
In the second quarter 2004, the Central government fiscal account including the National Insurance Scheme shows a total income of NOK 244.8 billion. This is an increase of NOK 15.2 billion, or 6.6 per cent, compared with the same period last year.
The raise in government income is mainly due to increased transfers of taxes. Increased operating surplus from extraction of petroleum also contributes to the increase.
Contemporary, the total expenditures show a modest increase of 3.9 per cent compared with second quarter last year, from NOK 153.4 to 159.3 billion. Together the increase in income and expenditure lead to an increase of NOK 9.2 billion in the surplus before net transfers to the government petroleum fund.
