Increase in both revenue and expenditure

In 2007, the central government fiscal account including the National Insurance Scheme shows total revenue and expenditure of NOK 1030 and NOK 715 billion respectively. Compared with 2006, revenue and expenditure have increased by NOK 35 and NOK 32 billion respectively.

The surplus before net transfers to the Government Pension Fund - Global, is NOK 315 billion. This is an increase of NOK 3.7 billion compared with 2006. Increased tax revenues and payments to the National Insurance Scheme of NOK 30.7 and NOK 13.6 billion respectively, contribute to the growth in total revenues. A decline in the operating surplus from extraction of petroleum of NOK 16 billion, counters the increased revenues.

Among the largest contributions to the growth in total expenditures by NOK 31.6 billion, are increases in transfers to municipalities and county municipalities of NOK 8.4 billion and pensions and benefits of NOK 11.1 billion. Wages and salaries increase by NOK 3.6 billion.
