Slight increase in revenue and expenditure

The central government fiscal account for the second quarter of 2010 shows increased revenue and expenditure of 1.3 and 2.3 per cent respectively compared to the second quarter of 2009. The surplus is approximately unchanged and amounts to NOK 121 billion.

Total revenue in the second quarter of 2010 amounts to NOK 352 billion. This is an increase of NOK 4.4 billion compared to the same period last year. About half of this increase is due to improved operating surplus in extraction of petroleum.

Total expenditure increased by NOK 5.2 billion to NOK 231 billion. Increased transfers to municipalities and county municipalities and transfers to other state accounts contributed to the increased expenditure. The state’s own expenditure and gross fixed capital formation, however, show a low increase and decline respectively, compared to the second quarter of 2009.

The quarterly figures are subject to random fluctuations and must be interpreted with caution.
