Growth in government revenue
In the approved budget for 2011, the total revenue and expenditure of central government amounts to NOK 1 113 and 960 billion respectively. The budgeted surplus amounts to NOK 153 billion; an increase of NOK 86 billion compared to the approved budget of 2010.
The increase in central government surplus is caused by a considerable rise in government revenue of 14 per cent compared to the approved budget of 2010. At the same time, central government expenditure increases by a more modest 6 per cent. The growth in central government revenue is mainly due to increased revenue from petroleum activity.
Central government expenditure increases by NOK 53 billion, or 6 per cent. The growth in transfers to local government is the most significant, with an increase of 14 per cent, or NOK 21 billion.
Statistics Norway has updated the table for central government revenue and expenditure by type. The table now contains the central government budget proposal for 2011, the approved budget for 2010, and accounting figures for previous years. |
The central government budget for 2011 was released on 5 October, and more information on the budget can be found on the Ministry of Finance’s website at http://www.statsbudsjettet.dep.no/Statsbudsjettet-2011/English/ |
