Statistics Norway has created a set of future scenarios that describe what our surroundings and framework might look like ten years from now.
Statement from the management
What will the framework for the production of official statistics look like in the future? We don’t know the answer to that question, but we do know that we have to be prepared for changes. Statistics Norway has therefore created a set of future scenarios that describe what our surroundings and framework might look like ten years from now.
The aim of the scenarios and the scenario process is to prepare the organisation for changes in the surroundings, but does not suggest how to adapt to such changes. That is the purpose of Statistics Norway’s strategy. The strategy should set the direction for the years ahead and prepare the organisation for strategic considerations and adjustments. The goal is to make Statistics Norway more futureoriented, innovative and dynamic.
This strategy – as opposed to previous strategies – is built around a few brief primary strategies. In addition, we have developed more detailed strategies for IT, data collection, ethics and human resource development. The strategy documents shall act as tools for important decisions in the next few years. At the same time, the strategy shall help Statistics Norway to be visible in its surroundings, clarify Statistics Norway’s role and maintain the general public’s trust in the institution and its products. Through these goals, we support the vision of official statistics as society’s common factual basis.
