Construction costs for roads up 0.9 per cent

The construction costs of roads rose by 0.9 per cent from the third quarter to the fourth quarter last year. The increase is mainly due to inclusion of wage statistics for the third quarter of 2004 in the fourth quarter 2004.

From the fourth quarter of 2003 to the fourth quarter of 2004 the increase was 4.7 per cent.

The construction costs for concrete bridge rose by 2.0 per cent from the third quarter to the fourth quarter 2004. The costs of open air roads and rock tunnels rose by 0.4 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of 2004.

The costs of maintenance of roads increased by 0.4 per cent from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of 2004, and are 3.1 per cent higher in the fourth quarter of 2004 than in the fourth quarter of 2003.
