Higher costs for road construction
Road construction costs increased by 1.2 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2013. Labour costs rose by 2.6 per cent, while materials and machinery costs increased by 0.4 and 0.3 per cent respectively in the same period.

The construction costs of open air road rose by 1.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2013. In the same period, the costs of rock tunnels and concrete bridges increased by 1.0 and 0.7 per cent respectively. From the third quarter of 2012 to the third quarter of 2013, the total road construction costs rose by 3.9 per cent.
Road maintenance costs increased by 2.1 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2013, and are 3.8 per cent higher than in the third quarter of 2012.
