Increased costs in road construction

Road construction costs increased by 1.0 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2015. Material and labour costs rose by 2.2 and 1.1 per cent respectively, while machinery costs decreased by 0.4 per cent in the same period.

From the first to the second quarter of 2015, the construction costs of rock tunnels, concrete bridges and open air roads rose by 2.8, 2.6 and 1.7 per cent respectively.

Road maintenance costs increased by 1.8 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2015, and are 0.4 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2014.
